It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday early-November afternoon here in Sydney, and we are down at Rose Bay on Sydney Harbour to shoot the fashion label launch and website photos for Frauleinlabel – a new fashion label launched by new designer Bella Abiad.
Photoshoot location
Our location is a beautiful modern Mediterranean residence in Rose Bay featuring indoor and outdoor archways, a north-facing backyard with French tumbled travertine, a beautiful light blue pool and an alfresco arched outdoor dining verandah.
A Google Earth play told us the year would be in bright sun in the afternoon.
There’s a lot to shoot in the three hours the house is booked – nine designs – hero shots, and online store e-commerce photos. Time is critical, and Bella has pulled together a great team.
We didn’t have much time and needed consistency throughout the series to reduce post-production editing costs, so rig-wise, I went for complete manual control to lock down the settings. I shot with trusty Canon 5D MkIII and a 24-105 EFL lens. I used a single Bowens 1000w head in a parabolic silver reflector umbrella for lighting – it gives strong direct light. ISO 200; 1/200th sec for flash sync; F6.4
