It was the Saturday morning after the Sharks had beaten the Cowboys in the Preliminary Final the night before and all staff had been called in for a meeting. We were on the way to the Grand Final in 8 days – the first time since 1978. The Sharks had been in the competition for over nearly 50 years and never won a title. If we won it was going to be the biggest party in Sydney since the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Despite all the experience of Chairman Damian Keogh, Football CEO Lyall Gorman, Leagues Club CEO Marcelo Veloz, coach Shane Flanagan and the rest of the staff this was new ground – a massive week ahead.
